At the age of 23 I've been in higher education for a total of 5 years.Alot of hours and even more pounds spent chasing a dream that sadly thanks to either poor facilities or poor teaching appeared to be getting further and further from my grasp, then I discovered AcademyClass through google.I gave myself an initial acid test to test the professionalism of the course and decided I would base its professionalism on the experience I got via my first phonecall with them.I was blown away, I not only felt that I was talking to a professional but for the first time ever I felt I was looked at as more then just a STATISTIC.I felt cared for and I signed up immedietly based on that. This is a three-day course on how to create a website. There were six of us, some novices, some with a tiny bit of experience, and I believe everyone was pleased with it. I had already built my website with an ancient version of Dreamweaver, mostly by trial and error. So to be taught systematically and have a tutor answer my questions was luxury. Everything was hands-on: we did on our computers what the tutor did on his, projected on a screen. We also got an hour to build our own little site and shout for help. Everything on the course contents got covered, and instead of handouts we got a Dreamweaver book. If you’re not the kind of person who learns software easily by themself, or if you want the comfort of being taken through it step-by-step, this course does what it says on the tin. I think Academy Class offers affordable training packages and in my own experience this is delivered by very knowledgable and freindly instructors. Both of the training centers I have visited have been well equiped and condusive to learning. The staff at your Waterloo center are welcoming and the team atmosphere seems relaxed but still professional. Perhaps the most appealing aspect is the resit opportunity as the content is highly technical and is difficult to absorb in a few days. I find the following few months after attending a class I have retained about 75% and so the value of consolidation can not be over stated. -

Flash ACA Jumpstart, Zero to Hero in a week. Arrived well in time for the start, to a warm welcome from the team. Signed in and was offered tea, coffee and biscuits well that’s a good start. Taken to the training room and introduced to Tareq Fadel, (a fountain of knowledge, even some of the trainers came to him for information of the finer points of their software). The room accommodates 8 – 10 people cosy and well set out, at my work station I had a shared trainer screen to watch between me and my neighbours monitor, (this is better than keep turning to look at a projected image). A word of warning, if you are doing the full weeks course of 2 days as a rookie and then 3 days as a hotshot, pay attention to the rookie days, it doesn’t matter how much you have been using flash and creating things, you must pay attention even though you think you don’t need to know this stuff. (this was my downfall, I thought I didn’t need to know much about day 1 as I was doing things better than this!!) The real basic stuff is needed to build a firm foundation for things that are to come, that’s why they teach you how to make a box and tween it to a star, and how Pack Man works. You may need it in the exam, or not! This course for me was challenging, exciting and fulfilling, I got a lot from this course and it has been a springboard into the Flash world. My work has benefited from Tareqs knowledge, and I am now progressing a lot faster with the development of programmes. Was it value for money? Defiantly.
